We will take up developmental works in all wards

The chairperson of the Ponda municipal council (PMC), Mr Monoj Keni today said that the council would utilise all the developmental grants received from the director of municipal administration for Ponda city.Mr Keni speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’ revealed that the grant of Rs 27 lakh was received for the year 2006-07 for the city’s development.

He further stated that all the pending works would be taken up before the application of the Code of Conduct in view of the scheduled September 3 municipal election. He further said that tenders would be flouted soon and works would be commenced completing the necessary formalities.

“We would take up the developmental works in all the wards,” Mr Keni assured adding that priority would be given to the construction of drains, culverts and roads within the city jurisdiction.

He said that two hydraulic compactors would be brought, besides the new dustbins and an open truck for the easy loading and unloading of waste.

Meanwhile, the chairperson said that he had requested the DMA to sanction extra 30 labourers for next three months to cope up with the scheduled activities.
