Canara College's Canfest-05 Makes a Glittery Start

Canfest'05, a two-day south India level management festival organised by Canara First Grade College at T V Raman Pai Convention Centre on Tuesday was inaugurated by Magnum Intergrafiks Pvt Ltd chairman Sudhir P Ghate.

Speaking on the occasion, he called upon students not to hesitate to take up business enterprises in order to meet the challenges of unprecedented globalization. "Globalization is a fact which everybody has to accept. Knowledge has become an open source today and students should be able to use that in practice, to think, argue and to arrive at a decision," he stressed.

Focusing on the vast opportunities for the enthusiastic students, Ghate said, India required 90,000 young MBAs every year, but it had been able to produce only 5,000 quality MBAs. "According to the World Bank estimation, the demand for people in the outsourcing sector will witness a seven-fold growth in the next five years," he pointed out.

Canara Educational Institutions president Annappa Pai presided over the function. College principal Nagaraj Rao Javali, student welfare officer G N Bhat, S S Kamath, Commerce co-ordinator Dejamma, student convener Sunil Kini and Susmitha Bhagat were present.
