August 20 is celebrated every year to mark the inclusion of Konkani in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, according to a press release from Dugappa Kajekar, Registrar of the academy here.

Dr Kajekar said around 30 Konkani organisations are expected to participate in the programme to be held at Don Bosco Hall here. Various subcommittees such as reception committee, publicity committee, rally committee, literary committee and cultural committee have been set up for the purpose.

The president of the academy, Eric Ozario, will supervise the proceedings.
